If I may be permitted a brief personal note to our Catholic Insight readers to let you all know that my dear mother, Maria Theresa Meenan (née Reilly), went to eternity this morning at about ten to seven, in my and my Dad’s arms, here at their home. She had received the Last Rites just a few days ago, with Viaticum, that final Holy Communion to see her on her way. A great, indeed a profound, blessing.
I want to express our gratitude for all your prayers and thoughts in this difficult, get grace-filled, journey, which have borne us up, and have now borne my Mum up to God.
Providentially, the Archdiocese of Toronto has posted a brief article this morning I wrote on patron saints. I may hope that my mother finds that place now, or very soon, in that blessed company. What better intercessor to have, than one’s own mother?
Please do pray that she finds eternal joy in heaven with Christ, Our Lady and all the saints, where we all meet merrily one day, forever, and where we will truly begin to live, in that life that never ends…
