The words themselves are chilling: ‘Pre-death approval by the coroner‘:
And on it goes into the abyss:
“17: The Chief Coroner may allow the removal of organs or tissue after the death of a person notwithstanding that death has not yet occurred if: (a) in the opinion of a physician the death of the person is imminent by reason of injury or disease”
Orwell is becoming ever-more prescient: They’re now going to harvest the organs of a ‘dead’ person, who’s not dead yet. I’d bring in the joke in Princess Bride about being ‘mostly dead’, but this isn’t a laughing matter.
Who’s going to want to go to a hospital in Canada, unless you’re full of health, and not moribund, which, ironically, is the primary reason one seeks medical help?
Primum non nocere, indeed.
