The Holy See’s permanent observer to the United Nations, Archbishop Francis Chullikatt, challenged the erroneous view that “human fertility and population growth is something to be feared” (Zenit.org, April 13, 2011). The Archbishop said that “this flawed understanding leads to the distorted view that population growth, especially among the poor, must be decreased in order to address poverty, illiteracy and malnutrition. It is also based upon the consistently disproven theory that population increase will devastate the environment, lead to global competition and confrontation for resources, and undermine the ability of women to interact fully with society” (ibid).
The Vatican observer challenged the world-view that regards the poor as “a problem to be commoditized and managed as if they were inconsequential objects rather than unique persons with innate dignity and worth …”
Clash with Obama delegation
The Vatican, Honduras and Malta hosted a UN pan called “Secure human development: marriage, family, community” in which a U.S. representative to the UN castigated the Holy See and the other organizers for not being “comprehensive,” especially regarding “family planning” (i.e., family reduction) and abortion (LifeSiteNews, April 15, 2011).
Even though most nations have achieved low fertility, the UN continues to ask for more money from developed countries to pay for “family planning services” which include abortion and what the UN calls “commodities:” condoms, pills and injectibles that prevent pregnancy (ibid). The American Obama government alone provides $300 million per year directly to the United Nations Population Fund and spends even larger amounts in countries targeted for population reduction such as the Philippines.
United States pushes “gay” rights at the U.N.
The U.S. under the Obama administration has introduced for the first time in American history a homosexualist policy at the UN. The document uses all the buzz words: “principle of universality and non-discrimination;” human rights the inalienable right of every person…” Although Obama campaigned for President pretending to be in favour of marriage between one man and one woman, he had also committed himself to quietly champion “gay” rights. Since his election he has become fully committed to promote the latter.
