Britain, Canada and “gay” imperialism
By Alphonse de Valk

British and Canadian “gay” activists are upset because the African state of Malawi rejects their same-sex liaisons and carnal intercourse as contrary to natural law and the moral order. On this subject Malawi is supported by ninety-nine percent of the world’s cultural and religious forces, whether of Christianity, Islam, Hinduism, Buddhism, Shintoism or any other self-respecting cultural group.

Times Online of May 22, 2010, tells us that prominent “gay members of the British government” such as Allan Duncan, the International Development Minister, are pressuring the government to take action against Malawi where a judge has sentenced two young men to long jail terms for flamboyantly defying the law. Madonna has also joined the howl of outrage, as celebrities are wont to do. The action they propose is to withdraw part or all of the £ 19 million British Budget support for Malawi, if the country refuses to pay attention. That of course, is the old imperialism reborn.

Canada’s promoter of homosexual behaviour is Toronto’s nationally distributed Globe & Mail newspaper. Grossly indecent imprisonmentread its editorial in large letters on May 24, a Saturday when Canadian newspapers traditionally produce their largest edition of the week.

The scolding went down the traditional line, namely that homosexual behaviour is a “human right” (it is not); that it is “wrong” to oppose homosexual activity; that “criminalizing gay sex also drives it underground;” and therefore, makes it “harder to curb the spread of HIV in Africa.” (North America statistics tell us that “gay” sex is a major source of HIV).

The Globe noted that Canada’s foreign Minister Lawrence Cannon, had denounced the judge’s ruling. If Malawi “violates the rights of minority groups,” the Globe pontificated,” it should be shunned, though so far no donor has withdrawn aid.”

Donors better think twice about doing so and citizens should too. Using material aid as a club to beat the poor nations of the world into submitting to Western immorality is vile.

As Catholic Insight has noted before, it is remarkable how a tiny group of people who complained for decades that they were victims of discrimination, have suddenly turned into street bullies demanding that everyone applaud their lifestyle, as soon as a few governments granted them some legal recognition. We are not about to do so, nor should anyone else. The acquisition of that legal recognition, especially of same-sex “marriage” as in Canada, has come about by deceit and government threats. The vast majority of Canadians and Americans will have nothing to do with it and that it is the way it should be.
