Obama’s Second Opus

America will never be destroyed from the outside. If we falter and lose our freedoms, it will be because we destroyed ourselves. – Abraham Lincoln

It was the most anticipated election in generations. And the result shocked many Americans who’d been praying and fasting for weeks while working hard to get like-minded voters out to the polls. They were hoping their Republican candidate, Mitt Romney, might bring the US back from the brink of the destruction they were certain would come from another four years under Democratic Barack Obama.

It was not to be. As midnight approached on 6 November, they saw their worst fears realized as Obama crossed the 270 electoral vote threshold to win a second term.

Their shock was understandable. How could this be, they wondered? How could their candidate, who drew massive crowds of 30,000 while Obama could only half fill a small arena, lose?

They knew what an Obama second term meant, all right. Many recognized the danger as far back as 2007, when Obama launched his presidential campaign, weeks ahead of the anticipated frontrunner Hillary Clinton. “We are five days away from fundamentally transforming the United States of America,” Obama proclaimed sonorously on the eve of his historic election in November 2008.

And so it has been. With a supportive media in lockstep, Americans watched helplessly as their unvetted new president unleashed one destructive measure after another with no opposition substantial enough to stop the economic, structural, and moral damage being wrought.

As for what’s next, as God-fearing, freedom-loving, and now depressed Americans absorbed the full impact of the election results, stories of widespread voter fraud began pouring in from critical swing states where cities such as Philadelphia and Cleveland reported voter turnouts as high as 129% and Obama winning up to 99% of the vote. Poll watchers also began to report that up to 10% of ballots cast at polling stations in Pennsylvania reverted to default, giving Obama a vote no matter who the voter had selected.

“We haven’t seen numbers like that since the election of Saddam Hussein,” quipped radio host Rush Limbaugh, adding that the figures were reminiscent of third world countries and even higher than the vote for Venezuelan dictator, Hugo Chavez.

Here’s my question: Do Canadians, who preferred Obama by a wide margin, still not get it? Not that they can be blamed, since mainstream media outlets across Canada failed to report any news potentially harmful to Obama or investigate the truth of his real agenda or expose the dirty tricks perpetrated by his Chicago political machine. The stock market got it right away, however. It dropped like a rock—more than 300 points—the next morning, and the plunge continued the next day and the next. The market knows exactly what’s coming.

And on the same day, Louisiana became the first state to petition to secede from the Union.

As I write, that number has risen to 47 (including Texas) as Obama and his cohorts step up the pace of their systematic dismantling of the US by shutting down more coal mines, banning oil shale development originally scheduled for federal lands in the West, wasting billions on bankrupting green energy schemes, crippling small businesses with ever more onerous regulations, alienating America’s historic allies while cozying up to her enemies, downsizing and demoralizing the military, using American political might to destabilize the Middle East from Libya to Syria, paving the way for the domination of the Muslim Brotherhood around the Mediterranean, bribing voters with food stamps and metastasizing welfare, raising the deficit by trillions, using taxpayer money to fund abortion at home and around the world, and raising taxes as food prices skyrocket.

Oh, and the Department of Homeland Security placed an order earlier this year for four billion bullets, specifically not for military use, and without any public explanation as Obama and Co. race to sign the US onto a UN treaty banning guns.

“On all these issues, but particularly missile defense, this can be solved but it’s important for (Vladimir Putin) to give me space,” Obama famously told Dmitri Medvedev over a microphone he thought was off. “After my election I have more flexibility.”

“I will transmit this information to Vladimir,” Medvedev replied. “And I stand with you.”

Which brings us to Obama’s signature legislation—the socialist health care scheme known as Obamacare—which, in a nation of 320 million, promises ten times the problems of Canada’s socialized health system (for one-tenth of the population) including the “death panels” which will soon appear. Just like those now appearing in the UK and for the same reasons: a bankrupt state cannot afford costly medical procedures for non-productive citizens, and once the morals are dispensed with—aided by the cultural conditioning process that’s been long underway—it’s a mathematical certainty.

Consider, too, the implications of Obamacare’s mandate that all Catholic institutions violate the teachings of their faith by dispensing birth control, which is merely the first step to requiring Catholic hospitals to perform abortions—and later euthanasia—or be shut down.

American bishops, who instructed parishioners to consider the moral implications of their vote, understand this. So do bishops in the UK where Catholic adoption agencies—the main ones in Britain—have been forced to shut down for refusing adoption to gay couples.

So where are we now?

For a flavour of culture today, look no further than “students” interviewed in Times Square as the election results streamed in: “I voted for Obama, because he’s…like, he’s more for human rights ’n stuff.”

Understand too that 48% of American Catholics (who George Weigel calls “baptized pagans”) voted for Obama, the most pro-abortion politician in American history. Don’t tell me that Glee, Housewives of Orange County, and Gossip Girl aren’t doing their part in zombifying voters into embracing socialism as their salvation.

Why has the Catholic Church always condemned it? Because it enslaves the free by usurping God and the family and replacing both with the leviathan of the bureaucratic State.

Here’s the bottom line: the so-called “Moral Majority,” as defined by the late evangelical preacher Jerry Falwell, has become an Immoral Majority advancing the culture of death.

Fulton Sheen’s America no longer exists. Yet even in the 1950s, the venerable archbishop saw it coming and repeatedly warned against totalitarian ideologies which darken the mind, blight the soul, and demoralize and destroy functional societies.

And the Russian journalist and former KGB spy, Yuri Bezmenov, who defected to Canada in the 1980s, amplified Sheen’s warnings three decades later by exposing exactly how socialist communism takes over free nations under a seductive banner of equality, fairness, and social justice, the key to which is the ideological subversion of academia and the media. Tick both boxes and consider the implications of Obama’s re-election because, barring a reversal, rough times are ahead. Particularly for Catholics.

But don’t take my word for it. History, scripture, and church tradition guarantee it. And it’s already happening, perniciously across North America, and openly in other parts of the world as the same spiritual warfare confronting the saints and sinners who went before us is now staring us straight in the face.
